ANIMAL SYMBOLISM appears in many different cultures. In Don’t Make Me bring The Thunder, the Pelican represents teamwork and group dynamics, regeneration and resourcefulness. These birds had suffered from mankind’s pollution, but their determination and cooperation of hunting in groups brought them back. Present in this piece are storm-scape symbols of rain, lightening, clouds - representing change, renewal and fertility. The pelican is very comfortable and confident in her environment, she has the the power to affect change. But, this snarky gal is not cooperating today, so don’t make her bring the thunder! (Deconstructed denim, wool, linen, rayon wedge weaving, wet-felted wool/silk, embroidery, beadwork.)
